We’re improving communication lines and empowering Women of Color entrepreneurs and creatives to disrupt the status quo, own their narratives, and cultivate equity-driven cultural change through strategic messaging and storytelling that sells—putting wealth directly into the hands of WOC. When we're thriving, entire communities are rising with us.
Positively disrupting culture with conscious storytelling & marketing.
When I was working for an independent film studio, a big part of my job was giving notes on scripts and providing creative feedback during production. Many notes were about meeting buyer expectations and demands. So, I learned quickly how to write on brand and the difference between storytelling for art's sake and storytelling for commercial marketability.

But...something wasn't sitting right with me.
One of my biggest pet peeves was whenever I'd see character descriptions like "Sexy Asian Woman" or when I'd constantly read stories about women in distress. Why are we always in distress? I'm tired of being in distress!
It was here that I really understood where the power of words began, and why after law school my gut told me not to practice as an attorney but to follow the path where I knew I could make a cultural difference in the world. So a small flame lit up inside me and wherever I could, I would make changes to the scripts to make them more authentic, often smiling to myself because no one would ever really know the work I was doing, but it felt like I was on a secret little mission. |
Plot Twist!
I could only do so much though, and when I came to a crossroads in my career, I was tired of dealing with vanilla stories and performative diversity. But I wanted to keep helping others tell authentic and diverse stories that genuinely connect with their audience.
Then an unexpected plot twist happened when I was asked to write social media copy for a luxury skincare brand and it was like hallelujah lights raining down on me. Copywriting & marketing are just storytelling for brands. And brands and their marketing are EVERYWHERE.
Suddenly I realized I was finally living my childhood dreams of being a writer. But what really gave me even more clarity, drive, and determination, was when I became a mother and discovered a whole world of amazing Mamapreneurs.
Since then I’ve been determined to support other moms, and especially BIPOC mamas and women who are on a mission to disrupt the status quo, create positive cultural change, or heal our planet, because let’s face it…
Who really makes the world go round? Women. And especially Moms and Eldest Daughters.

Where are we headed? 🚂Our destination is a world and society that operates on empathy, positivity, and equity.
Where we value each other as humans. Where we celebrate our differences and recognize our similarities. Where we live as stewards of this earth that we temporarily make our lives on. Where we are unafraid to improve communication with one another when challenges arise. AND where we each get to own and tell our own stories. Want to create this vision together? ✨What was the inspiration for Red Balloon Station?✨
Have you ever stood or sat in the middle of a crowded train station, and looked around at all the people?
Everyone is coming or going from somewhere, everyone has a story...and we're all strangely connected in this moment in time.
That was the original inspiration for Red Balloon Station - that we're all connected.
Wherever we're coming from or going, stories surround us, make us, and connect us.
They're how we've passed traditions, values, and culture down since the beginning of time.
The power of storytelling is undeniable, because it has the ability to influence, create, and change culture.
And Red Balloon Station was created to be a place where that positive influence can start or be shaped.
The name "Red Balloon" was inspired by the 1956 French short film of the same name by Albert Lamorisse. I've always loved that story, because the red balloon was like a briant giant symbol of hope against the grey and moody setting.
And I loved the ✨magic✨ of the balloon. It was a balloon that had a mind of its own, following a little boy around. When other boys in the neighborhood see him with it, they do everything to bring down the boy and the balloon. But in the end, all the balloons in Paris rise up to save the boy from the bullies.
It's a beautiful story that reflects the work I aim to accomplish through writing, no matter what medium that may be in.
So, when you come to Red Balloon Station, my goal is to inspire the magic of hope, positivity, and resilience 🎈.
