What most people miss in their storytelling

(And why their audience isn’t connecting the dots)

First, when I say “stop building marketing funnels,” I don’t mean stop marketing.

I mean, stop treating marketing like a conveyor belt of tactics, and funnels as the strategy. Funnels are great containers. But a container can’t do the selling if the story inside it is unclear. Because story is the strategy.

Most people don’t have a “bad story.” They have a misstructured or incomplete one. So their audience nods along, but still doesn’t know, “Okay… so why you? And how does this actually change my life?” Why would I want to stay and play in your world?

What often happens is…

  • We tell stories that are meaningful, but not strategically persuasive.

  • We center ourselves, instead of our audience.

  • We try too hard to impress instead of just being simple and clear when it matters.

  • And we aren’t connecting the dots enough from your story → their problem → your offer → their transformation.

So your audience never reaches the clean conclusion of “Yes. You’re the one.”

The world is noisy, and we’re now living in an AI world spitting out SHEIN-level word crimes. Audiences are much more discerning. Attention is more expensive.

If you want to build trust that earns a clean “yes,” you can’t be throwing down disconnected scenes and expecting your audience to fall in love with the movie.

You need a story arc. It’s time to tell your story like it’s a RomCom. But not just any RomCom…

We’re not writing Hallmark movies in an AI-saturated world. We’re writing stories that make your audience believe in what you’re selling, say “yes” to you, and want to stay in relationship with you.

Hallmark movies are designed to be easy to watch in the background—something you can half-pay attention to while you’re making dinner or folding laundry. Nothing wrong with that (I’ve even written them). They serve a purpose.

But you’re not here to be background noise. You’re here to build the kind of relationship where your audience doesn’t just consume more content, they come back for you.

So think of your favorite RomCom…what makes you keep coming back to watch it again and again?

  • Characters we can fall in love with and root for

  • A familiar world so specific we can see ourselves in it

  •  A relatable problem that makes the audience feel seen

  • Chemistry that makes us want to see this relationship grow

  • Stakes worth fighting for

  • A turning moment that changes everything

  • A satisfying transformation that’s earned

That’s what great storytelling does: it makes us root, it makes us stay, and it makes us choose. That’s how you earn clean “yeses.”

If you’re ready to build desire, not background noise…

You can deploy all the marketing tactics, build all the funnels, and show up on all the social channels, but if your storytelling isn’t right…then none of it works.

Storytelling…

  • Creates an emotional connection with your audience so it feels personal

  • Builds trust quickly, because suddenly people understand why you.

  • Makes you memorable–people remember stories more than numbers and stats

  • Raises the stakes and connects the dots so the right people can actually see themselves in the transformation

Without strategic and intentional storytelling, you miss taking your audience on the emotional journey that they need to go on to  believe in you and choose you.

Because your audience doesn’t buy when they understand your offer–they buy when they see themselves in it.

Story is what turns “interesting” into inevitable. It creates clarity and credibility, raises the stakes, connects the dots, and creates the turning moment where the right people stop scrolling and start choosing.

How do we do this?

How does storytelling make you better at selling?

Justine’s expertise was exactly what I needed to move through some mental blocks (that I had been experiencing for almost a year!) that were preventing me from moving forward with my copy and website. Justine was a thoughtful partner and guide...her perspective has been a critical asset in helping me get clearer and more comfortable with developing my copy. There is still so much more for me to learn...and I actually feel EXCITED about it now, thanks to Justine.

First we get SMART

First we get SMART ・

Then we make MAGIC

Then we make MAGIC ・

SMART Storytelling  is your big picture storytelling game plan: the structure, the journey, the alignment, the rollout, and the star-powered leadership. It's how we go from ideas in your head to a story that rallies people to action.

Then, we make your story come alive with MAGIC. This is where we get deep and flesh it all out. It’s the part that makes you unmistakable and uncopiable…especially by a robot.

This is what your storytelling needs to do in order to pull people into your world, and make them fall in love with you.

Make them want to stay and play past the end credits. The way we do that…

Meet your Story Producer!

I’m not just a RomCom junkie…people actually pay me to write them, too!

In our time together, Justine was able to learn about our business quickly, which is no small feat considering we have multiple customer segments and a robust messaging matrix. She’s not only intuitive, but her skills also stem from a genuine understanding of people. She took the time to deeply understand our story, needs, challenges, goals, and customer base. And her recommendations have been incredibly insightful and impactful.
— Julie Taury, Chief Innovative Officer - Architessa

Hiya, Justine here! I’m a lot of things, but at my core…I’m a storyteller.

I’ve got roots in two of the greatest storytelling towns on earth–Nashville and LA–so I know how to make a story sing, and the audience swoon.

Over the last decade, I’ve made and written films that sell globally–and most of them have been RomComs (of the holiday and regular day variety). Now I bring that same craft to founders like you, who need to tell stories that make people feel seen and heard, and ready to fall head over heels for you.

But one truth I learned in the entertainment industry that really set me on my path…was realizing that for too long, the wrong people have been writing and controlling our stories. Men writing women’s stories. Diversity being largely performative. And now AI (and people misusing it) is flattening our voices.

But we’re here to change that, because you’re not just building a brand, you’re shaping culture and challenging the status quo. You’re creating a ripple effect of empathy, equity, and positive change with your work and vision. And you deserve to tell your own story. In fact, you must. The world needs your brilliance.

My job? To make sure your storytelling reflects your truth–clearly, confidently, and with staying power that moves your people to action.

Inside Story Studio, we’ll:

  • Do the deep character development that makes your audience fall in love with you (aka deep brand voice and Ideal Client Avatar work)

  • Clarify your throughline so your message is crystal clear

  • Architect the story for your next launch or big event so you’ll be able to create the emotional buyer’s journey across channels–from sales page to emails, and even socials.

  • Spark the magic that makes your story unmistakably yours (and watch, even you’ll fall in love with you!)

2 Days - You + Me = Making Love…Stories!

Your $350 entry fee includes:

  • One of the 12 seats

  • A blank copy of my Storybook template that I typically only share with my clients.

  • Brain food + sustenance (i.e., lunch, snacks, water, tea)

  • 2-days of story creation with feedback from me (and your peers—a built-in testing audience!)

Who is Story Studio for?

  • Heading into a launch, big event, speaking engagement where you need to convert your audience into “yeses.” (3-6 months out)

  • Ready for collaboration and thought partnership–not just any ol’ copywriter.

  • Done with DIY and AI slop, and you want real support, not more generic templates

  • Coachable in the room–you can receive feedback and critique without collapsing or getting defensive (Big Sister Energy coming in hot here!)

  • Clear that you’ve got what your audience needs, but your current messaging isn’t doing you justice

  • Feeling like your voice sounds like different versions of you across different channels and you’re ready to unify it

  • Doing “fine” in business, but you’ve mostly been winging your marketing and you want a clear voice, a clear message, and stories show people how awesome you really are

  • You’re ready to invest in support and implement what you learn

Story Studio is for you if you are:

Story Studio is NOT for you if you are:

  • Still unclear about what you’re selling (your actual offer, not the messaging)

  • Looking to DIY – this is a collaborative room, not a “take notes and disappear” situation

  • Looking for a quick fix – we’re architecting stories, not filling out templates

  • Not willing to do the work in the room – this is writing, revising, and being in process–not passive learning

  • In a tender season where deep personal narrative work would feel destabilizing (I promise a safe, loving, and supportive space…but we may go deep)

This work is DEEP! It’s like therapy for business owners. I realized after meeting with Justine during her Magic Hour, I felt overwhelmed with developing the brand voice on my own. This has been such a transformative experience because I could finally learn how to develop a positive and nurturing relationship with my brand.
