It starts with a story...
It starts with a story...
As a former acquisitions & co-productions executive turned writer & producer, I've developed and produced numerous films, including RIP TIDE (Netflix), THE CHRISTMAS CALENDAR (UpTV), and BACK OF THE NET (Disney Channel).
My writing can be seen in Hallmark's A BIG FAT FAMILY CHRISTMAS, TWO FOR TEE, and GYMNASTICS ACADEMY, which reached # 1 in multiple countries on Netflix.
In 2019, my pilot script IDENTITY CRISIS OF A BANANA was selected as one of eleven projects to participate in the PGA’s annual Diversity Workshop. And it was this script that was a real turning point for me as a writer.
Why?
Because in my decade of experience working in the industry, I realized the harm done when the wrong people try to tell other people's stories. In other words...men writing women's stories, and non-BIPOC's (again, namely men) writing stereotypical characters and storylines about BIPOC.
So, even before I began writing, a fire was lit inside me to help other writers tell more authentic stories. And when I wrote IDENTITY CRISIS OF A BANANA, I felt like I had found my own authentic voice.
That's why I'm on a mission to amplify BIPOC and women's stories to set the truth straight, build bridges, and put ourselves in the conductor's seat of our own narratives.
In addition to writing, I served as the co-lead for the PGA's AAPI Working Group for two years to help uplift fellow AAPI producers in the industry.
Interested in a script consult from a Woman of Color?
Beautiful writing is not enough. Neither is following the formula.
In your script consult, I will read your feature film (up to 110 pages) or TV pilot to make sure your:
characters are believable
dialogue feels natural
structure is solid
overall story takes your audience on the intended journey
I’ll also provide feedback on marketability.
What you’ll receive:
45-minute zoom consult after I’ve read your script
Big picture and page notes in a Google doc
As a Woman of Color who has been on both sides of the table, I bring both my professional and lived experience to script consultations.
Even when we’re writing fiction or fantasy, believable stories are always rooted in truth. And that’s what I’ll help you uncover and make sure is clear.
You can expect honest, straightforward feedback in a safe space for discussion. My opinions are my own and may differ from others (but I have a pretty good track record for knowing what works and what doesn’t).
My goal is to support you in writing a script you’re proud of.
