GIVE YOUR STORIES THE HUMAN TOUCH ✳︎
You’ve got the words…. now let’s make them sing!
You don’t need someone to take over your voice.
You need someone who knows how to listen for it and bring it out in your writing.
Back Pocket Story Editor is for you if you’re already writing your own copy—or working with a small support team—but need a strategic story editor to help shape, sharpen, and sometimes rewrite what’s already there.
Because the bones are good.
The ideas are real.
The voice is (somewhere) in there.
It just needs a little editorial magic to close the story gaps and sound distinctly you.
Think: your very own Fairy Storymother for the copy that’s almost there, but not quite singing yet.
How Back Pocket (Human) Story Editor Works:
1. We start with your Monthly Magic Hour
Once a month, we hop on a 60-minute strategy session to recalibrate your message, look at what’s coming up, and decide the strategy and priorities based on your goals.
2. You send me the copy
You send up to 4 assets per month via email or Google Docs (either all at once or weekly as they’re ready).
Think: sales pages, newsletters, emails, bios, talks, launch copy, content drafts, one-pagers, brochures
Perfection not needed—brain dumps and messy drafts welcome.
3. I story-edit with a human lens and eye for conversion
I review for clarity, voice, structure, story gaps, emotional resonance, rhythm, whether the message actually sounds like you, and whether it is aligned with your goals, mission, and values.
I’ll help you see what’s working, what’s not, what’s trying too hard, and what line deserves to be the whole headline.
Then I’ll rewrite what needs rewriting and add additional notes and comments as needed.
Because we are not here for copy that is technically fine and spiritually beige.
4. You get the magic back
You’ll receive feedback through Google Doc edits, margin notes, email, or voice notes—sometimes a combo.
Most feedback begins within 48 business hours. Bigger pieces may need more time because your story deserves actual attention, not a rushed “looks good!” with a little thumbs-up emoji.
5. Email access throughout the month
You’re not limited to talking to me once a month. You can email me throughout the month with context, quick questions, updates, and priorities. But story editing and detailed feedback are reserved for up to 4 copy assets per month.
The goal: a story that feels like a cultural moment, not more background TV noise.

Clarity and momentum for this season.
Best for someone who has copy in motion and needs focused support for a specific season, project, or body of content.
This could absolutely support a small launch, but it’s especially good for:
Updating a few key pages
Refining a sales sequence
Cleaning up a content ecosystem
Getting a messaging rhythm back
Preparing for a near-term offer, event, or visibility push
-
Best for someone moving through a bigger campaign, launch, event, offer rollout, or visibility season where the message will evolve as the audience responds.
This gives more time to:
Plan the story arc
Refine launch assets
Adjust messaging in real time
Review emails, pages, posts, talks, and follow-up copy
Stay consistent across the whole campaign
-
True story partnership for a whole era.
Best for someone who wants ongoing editorial partnership as their business, offers, audience, and voice keep evolving.
This is for people who want a consistent story brain across the year for launches, pivots, visibility, newsletters, website updates, thought leadership, all of it.
This is for you if:
You already have words on the page, but they’re not quite landing yet.
You like writing your own copy, but want a strategic second set of eyes.
You have a marketing director, VA, brand strategist, or copywriter helping you draft, but need a deeper story lens before it goes live.
You want ongoing support without adding another weekly meeting to your calendar.
You care about copy that sounds clear, human, values-rooted, and unmistakably you.
This is NOT for you if:
You want someone to write everything from scratch. Check out Platforms B and C.
You need urgent same-day copy edits or last-minute launch rescue
You’re not open to honest editorial notes about what’s unclear, missing, or not quite working.
You need a full brand strategy, launch strategy, or website build-out.
You’re okay with just “good enough” copy. We’re not here to be mediocre.
“Justine was thorough and didn't skip any steps in the process. I enjoyed the collaborative nature of her approach and learned a lot from her.”

Not inside Back Pocket Story Editor.
This pass is for copy that already has a starting point — whether it was written by you, your team, a VA, a marketing director, a strategist, or a copywriter.
I will rewrite sections where needed, but this is story editing and strategic refinement, not a done-for-you service.
For done-for-you services check out Platforms B or C.

An asset is one focused piece of copy, like a sales page, website page, email sequence, newsletter, bio, talk, launch copy, lead magnet, or content draft.
Smaller pieces — like a few short social posts — may be bundled together depending on scope. Larger or more complex pieces may count as more than one asset. We’ll clarify priorities during your Monthly Magic Hour.
-
Your pass gives you space for up to 4 assets per month, but you don’t have to use all 4 every month. We’ll focus on the copy that matters most in that season.
Unused assets do not roll over, because this is ongoing editorial support — not a copy bank. The goal is to keep your message moving, not create a backlog monster with bangs.
-
Sometimes, depending on availability.
Additional assets can be added at an extra rate if my calendar has room. We’ll prioritize your 4 monthly assets first, then decide what makes sense.
We’ll also see if some assets are short enough to be bundled as one :)
-
It depends on what the copy needs.
You may receive Google Doc edits, margin notes, strategic feedback, voice notes, rewrites, headline ideas, structure notes, or comments on what’s missing, unclear, or not quite landing.
I’m looking at clarity, voice, structure, story gaps, emotional resonance, and whether the copy sounds like you.
-
Most feedback begins within 48 business hours.
Bigger or more complex assets may need more time. I’ll let you know if something requires a longer turnaround.
This is not same-day emergency copy triage. We are not tossing your story into the microwave and hoping for resonance.
If something does require immediate turnaround, we can see what can be done.
-
Yes, within reason.
You don’t need perfect copy before sending it to me. A messy draft, rough outline, voice note, or “here’s what I’m trying to say” document can work — as long as there’s enough raw material for me to shape.
If we’re starting from absolutely nothing, that moves into full-service copywriting or strategy work.
-
Yes absolutely!
I’ll catch obvious errors as I edit, but the deeper value is story editing: clarifying the message, strengthening the structure, refining the voice, and helping the copy actually connect.
If you only need commas and typos, this is probably more support than you need.
Still not sure if Back Pocket (Human) Story Editor is right for you?
If you’ve got words on the page and you know they could be clearer, stronger, less generic, and more human, you’re probably in the right place.
If you need someone to build the whole story from scratch, we may need a different kind of magic.
