As a copywriter, I love looking at what other brands are doing for inspiration. And let's be super clear--inspiration not copying. I even have a "Copy Inspo" folder in my emails for anytime I see something, and I think, "Oo that's a fun subject, or great preview text." Inspiration is everywhere, and seeing what other brands are doing can not only inspire great ideas, but also inform what you don't want to do.

So, I wanted to share 5 sustainable brands that I follow, who have great marketing, and the reasons I love their marketing.

1. Cocokind

Cocokind is a skin care company, and the thing I love most about Cocokind is their degree of transparency. From packaging, to formulation, to pricing, they let their customers in on everything. This is the ultimate way to build trust. Their messaging is always positive, genuine, and honest, and because of that, I am definitely a loyal customer.

Also, they're clear about their values, as you can see in this email I just received, which makes loyal customers, die hard customers.

2. Blueland

Blueland makes and sells plastic-free home cleaning products. The reason I love Blueland, is that they're so committed to sustainability, they often share helpful tips and interesting facts, including sustainability wins around the world. That's another thing that makes a great brand--a brand so committed to their mission, they're not alway just talking about themselves. This is a brand you now is truly committed to a better world.

3. Ethique

Ethique makes bar shampoos, bar conditioners, bar body washes, and other bar products with compostable packaging. I love their vibrant tone, transparency, and commitment to sustainability. Much like the above two brands, they're very open and honest with customers, and they share so many fun and insightful facts, news, and insights that celebrate the environment, Mother Earth, culture, and sustainability.

4. Lomi/Pela Case

This is a brand that is totally committed to creating less waste in the world, and their marketing/copy shows it. I learn so much from them, and I just love it.

5. Avocado

Avocado is known for organic mattresses and bedding, and I love seeing their emails in my inbox, because it makes me feel like I want to cuddle up in a cloud of soft pillows and fluffy duvets. I feel zen. That's exactly how a mattress and bedding company should make you feel. Plus, they aren't always just selling you on their products - at least they're not directly. They talk about sleep, dreaming, wellness, interesting sustainability topics, and all things related to their products in a way that makes you feel like you're becoming wholly informed about something that is part of your life and that you use.  So, for those of you who worry about "annoying" customers with emails, take a page from Avocado. This is how to bring good vibes into your customers' inboxes and make the feel better for receiving your emails.
