@amnestylosangeles Campaign for Gender-Based Violence Awareness

Client: AmnestyLA is Amnesty International's Los Angeles chapter.

Challenge: AmnestyLA wanted to participate in #16DaysofActivism to End Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a global movement, and spread awareness. As part of 16 Days, they also held a panel discussion on the issue and how COVID-19 has affected the issues related to GBV. It was important to highlight facts, what GBV looks like, and ways everyone can be active in ending in GBV.

Solution: I planned out 16 posts for each day of this global movement, which included 16 different ways we can each work to end gender-based violence, why these steps are important, and how they these actions have a positive impact on people and culture.

Day 5 of #16DaysofActivism: knowing the facts about abuse opens our eyes to how prevalent it is all around us and allows us to recognize it when we see it and experience it. Knowing the facts allows us to prevent and end #GenderBasedViolence. Join us for our FREE discussion NEXT Sunday. Registration link in our bio.
Day 4 of #16DaysofActivism: another way we can help stop #GenderBasedViolence is to not make jokes about and not laugh at jokes made about beating, raping, molesting, stalking, trafficking, forced early marriage, female genital mutilation, and any other form of violence against women and girls. #ItsNotFunny __ Remember to register for our FREE panel on Dec 6th where we will discuss COVID’s affect on these issues and how we can all stay vigilant, active, and supportive.
Day 3 #16DaysOfActivism: one way you can help #EndGenderBasedViolence is to support women entrepreneurs. Financial independence helps women from being dependent on an abusive partner and allows her to leave such a situation. It can also help women rebuild their lives.
Day 2: #16DaysOfActivism. The right to freedom from violence is a basic human right. Yet, Indigenous women in the US experience violence at more than 10x the national average. Last month, Savanna’s Act and The Not Invisible Act were signed into law, designed to protect Native women from violence by improving data collection and reporting between federal and local agencies. We must continue to support Indigenous women and communities. Some ways we can do so, is by supporting their businesses, their advocacy efforts, and knowing their true history on this land.
Today is the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, which marks the start of #16DaysOfActivism. To end #ViolenceAgainstWomen we must educate ourselves on the issues, strive for gender equality, empower girls and women, create a culture that does not tolerate violence against women, and support survivors. This week, we’ll share 16 ways we can all end gender-based violence in our own homes and communities. Will you join us? __ Remember to register for our FREE panel on Dec 6th with panelists from @amnestyusa , @breakthecycle, @safe_bae, and @taniikeda □□□
The holidays are upon us and we want to encourage you to be mindful of the waste we create by trying to reduce it, and if you must shop, shop from Indigenous and small businesses. Now more than ever, small businesses need our support. We hope you all stay safe and healthy this season, thank you for growing with us □
